Relatively immediately forwarded for payment, the corona aid for pig farmers, as the applications were completed and the process is progressing smoothly.
As Mr. Bouras explains, «there is a possibility that the support will be provided relatively immediately, perhaps even within ten days. Certainly, those producers who have made an OSSD and of course a declaration to OPEKEPE will be paid. 70% of pig farmers in Greece make an OASME declaration, as it is not compulsory for us. The rest of the producers, i.e. those who have not made an SPS, may be paid at a later date.».
In the relevant EIA published in the Official Gazette on 13 September 2021, it is foreseen that support will also be provided to indigenous black pig farmers. For each sow or boar rearing a black pig the amount of aid will be EUR 353,46. The same decision also provides for aid for honey producers of EUR 3,39 per hive.
The industry is under pressure, say pig farmers
However, as Panagiotis Valasotiris, a pig farmer from Kamosis Mesolonghi, told AgroTypo, the payment of aid must be accelerated, as the units have lost liquidity due to expensive feed.
