To the Editor of Kythera News,
I would like to express my gratitude to the crew of the Glass Bottom boat (Captain Spyros Kasimatis, Giorgos Lamboglou, Foivos Vasilopoulos, Vasilis Konomos, Marianna Giannioti), and to everyone who contributed to my rescue and provided immediate, specialized, and generous assistance.
I would also like to thank Rea Kominou and Vangelis Katsanevakis, who responded immediately and seriously to my wife's request (Barbara Boneschi) for help, organized a thorough search at sea, and supported my wife, her sister Marta Boneschi, and her cousin Giovanna Zanetti during the long wait.
I would also like to thank Vrettos Ath. Sklavos and Vrettos P. Sklavos and all the volunteers at Melidoni beach who went into the sea to search for me.
I would like to thank Eleni Stathi, head of the rescue team, Yiannis Katsanevakis (representative of the municipal council), the Coast Guard, the Police, and the Port Authority of Kythira.
I am grateful to Dr. Gavrilis Psaras, Dr. Maria Kollia, and all the medical staff at Trifyllio Hospital in Kythira, as well as the ambulance crew. I would like to thank the residents of Avlemonas for their sympathy and support, and reporter Akis Kasimatis. It was a dramatic experience, but we must be grateful for the empathetic solidarity of the people of this beautiful island.
