The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for the leader of Hamas’s armed wing, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, also known as Mohammed Deif, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Israel’s former Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
The Court clarifies that Israel’s acceptance of the jurisdiction of the international judicial body is not necessary.
«The Court issued arrest warrants for two private citizens, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr. Yoav Galant, for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least October 8, 2023, through at least May 20, 2024, the date on which the prosecution filed the requests for the issuance of arrest warrants,» according to the statement from the International Criminal Court.
A separate announcement refers to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Mohammed Deif.
