For the damage caused by the rainfall-floods (“Athena”) that occurred in the first 10 days of October 2021 in chestnut crops and apple crops in Larissa (including the area of the Municipality of Agia) were carried out the necessary indications for the documentation of damage, 16 announcements were made and 896 damage declarations were submitted, stresses the Deputy Minister of Rural Development, George Stylios.
Comprehensive assessments were carried out in accordance with the Plant Production Insurance Regulation and the assessment work was completed. At the same time, the drafting of the findings is being carried out and the prescribed procedure will be followed, i.e. the notification of the findings and subsequently the payment of compensation to producers who are entitled to insurance coverage, after the cross-checking with the data of the 2021 IACS.
The payment of compensation is expected to be completed by the end of March 2022. It is stressed that now the payment of compensation shall start in the same year in which the cause of the damage occurs and completed no later than the beginning of the following year, unlike the practice in previous years where payment was completed at the end of the following year, i.e. up to 17 months later.
