The City Council meeting 27-1-2024 (video)

A meeting of the City Council was held on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

The Mayor of Kythera Efstratios Harhalakis spoke about administrative issues with special reference to the meetings of the three-member municipal communities that will now be mandatory every month.

The leader of the Official Opposition, Zacharias Souris, raised the demographic issue, referred to the transport problem and asked for more support for the operation of the Municipal Communities. He also asked that the Deputy Mayors' Backgrounds and the water analysis of the water supply network be posted on the municipality's website.

Mr.Panagiotis Megalokonomos asked for the application of the Fixed Advance for the presidents of the Municipal Communities.

Mr. Magoulas Nikolaos addressed the Mayor and told him that during the election the latter accused the faction «All Together» that it has the support of «patrons». He asked the Mayor to answer honestly who the patrons are. Also Mr. Magoulas referred to the problems of construction and the interest that must be given to solve them (e.g. urban planning in Kythera).

Mr. Mariatos Andreas from Free Kythera referred to the convening of the Municipal Council during non-working hours. He also referred to the spatial plan of the island in which there should be active participation of the Municipality and said that it was an important reason why he participated in the elections.

Mr. Stratigious George Deputy Mayor for Finance and Tourism took a condescending position on what the opposition raised and asked for everyone's help in the work of the Municipality, making special reference to the tourism policy.

Regarding the «patrons» the Mayor apologized to Mr.Magoulas and the faction «All Together’ stating that the accusation of patronage was due to the pre-election tension. However, he estimated that the post-election climate is good and the proposals should be based on the proposals.

Also Mr. Harhalakis referred to the demographic and the actions of the KEDE. For the Municipal Communities he gave the necessary clarifications with reference to the community offices and administrative issues. He also informed that the newly hired engineer of the Municipality of Kythera has resigned from her position, which makes the issue of the establishment of urban planning in the Municipality more difficult. For the Board meetings, he accepted the evening hours for holding the meetings and suggested Saturday. For the fixed advance, he clarified that it is for emergency cases and not cases on annual contracts.

The issues discussed and decided were:

1. Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Port Fund of Kythera (rapporteur: Mayor).
2. Composition of the Board of Primary Education School Committee of the Municipality of Kythera (rapporteur: Mayor).
3. Meeting of the Board of School Committee of Secondary Education Municipality of Kythera (rapporteur: Mayor).
4. Establishment of the Conciliation Committee for the Conciliation of Tax Disputes and Disputes (rapporteur: Mayor).
5. Establishment of a committee for the evaluation and selection of applications for the enrolment/re-enrolment of infants in the Kindergarten of the Municipality of Kythera (rapporteur: Department of Local Economic Development).
6. Appointment of a representative and deputy at the General Assembly of the Shareholders of the Network of Cooperation of Municipalities of the Attica Islands (rapporteur: Mayor).
7. Approval of the granting of a certificate within the 800m zone of the settlement of Kato Livadi (Rapporteur: Technical Service).
8. Approval of the granting of a certificate within the 800m zone of the settlement of Frilingianikon (Rapporteur: Technical Service).
