With accusations of «buying off discontent», the Kythera Tourist Accommodation Association “CERIGO” comments on the announcements of Deputy Minister K. Katsafadou, asking for substantial solutions to the major problems of the island and not opportunistic promises on the occasion of the fire.
PRESS RELEASE
After the briefing we had on the announcements of the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Kostas Katsafadou at the - by choice - meeting of the island's stakeholders, we declare the following.
It would be a tragic mistake, on the occasion of the catastrophic event of the great fire that hit our island once again, to ’launch« serious, but unrelated and irrelevant issues, even if they are welcome and necessary.
The protection of the Natural Environment is also for us the highest and non-negotiable priority and its repeated destruction, with its consequent effects on any form of Development, with obvious evidence of lack of coordination of human resources and means, only raises questions and disappointment.
Consequently, instead of celebrating for any «buying of discontent» we actively support our fellow citizens affected, and we remain firm and focused on the major issues that concern the tourism industry in Kythera, in a particularly negative year.
Finally, we call on all those involved and responsible from their position, at local and central level, to rise to the occasion and deal directly and effectively with all the problems that our island faces.
In any case, we remain active and steadfast supporters for the implementation of what has been announced, but also strict critics in this effort.
