Case: 1944. We are nearing the end of the World War II. The Germans have lost part of France and the Allied forces decide to give them the final blow. Their plan is simple and equally daring: thousands of paratroopers will land in Holland to hold a few key positions until reinforcements arrive.
The most important point is the Bridge of Arnhem - once occupied, it can block everything in West Germany. But the flawless plan will be thwarted, and the British will find themselves, in conditions of exhaustion, fighting not to take the bridge but to survive...
Excellent war adventure about the Battle of Arnhem Bridge in the Netherlands, which recreates with emphasis on detail and dramatic events. His work Attenborough surprises with the multitude of wonderful actors and actresses starring in it, but also for the inexperienced extras, military equipment and aircraft (especially DC-3s), which appear by the dozens and make up a spectacle of epic proportions.
The film is one of the best examples of WWII battlefield combat, with realistic scenes, magnificent battles and dramatic human scenes.
