«Jaws» at the Oscar museum

Almost half a century after he terrorized bathers at the «Jaws of Shark», the almost 8-metre-long shark came to the long-awaited museum of Oscar, in Los Angeles, reports the Agence France-Presse.

«Bruce the Shark», as he was dubbed according to the director's lawyer Steven Spielberg, Bruce Ramer, is now suspended 9 metres from the floor on the third floor of the museum, which is due to open on 30 April 2021.

The shark is the last model created for the 1975 film. As its jaws, more than a metre and a half wide, could not pass through the doors of the museum's elevator, the dummy had to be put through the window with the help of a crane.

«It's the end of a long journey for Bruce since we acquired him in 2016, and we couldn't be happier as we welcome him to his new home,» said museum president Bill Kramer.

Weighing more than half a ton, Bruce is currently the most imposing exhibit in the Oscar museum's collection, which will include Judy Garland's famous red shoes in The Wizard of Oz or the Dracula cape worn by Bella Lugosi in the 1931 film, among others.
