The Release Athens welcomes two great bands from Sweden, the The Hellacopters and them blues pills, the Tuesday 19 July 2022, in Water Square. Together, they will accompany the Clutch in a night full of unstoppable and passionate rock ‘n’ roll! The lineup is perfectly complemented by the explosive Deaf Radio and LDLM!
The Hellacopters were formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Dregen (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums). At the time, Andersson was famous in the metal scene for his work in the Swedish death metal band Entombed and Dregen had gained fame as co-founder and guitarist of his main band, Backyard Babies.
They are rightly considered one of the greatest and most influential Swedish rock bands with major awards (Swedish Grammy, Kerrang etc.), tens of millions of streams and tours with historic bands such as the Rolling Stones, Kiss, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top and Foo Fighters. Their discography is filled with classic albums like garage punk classics like “Supershitty To The Max!” (1996) and “Payin’ The Dues” (1997), the original rock ‘n’ roll “Grande Rock” (1999) and “High Visibility” and a huge list of great songs like “Killing Allan”, “Tab”, “The Electric Index Eel”, “Soul Seller” and many more.
After an 8 year absence, they reunited in 2016 and have since proven to be an unstoppable force, with appearances at major festivals such as Sweden Rock, Psycho Las Vegas, Hellfest, Roskilde. With their appearance at Release Athens 2022, a long time longed for by the band's fans in Greece will be satisfied, as this will be the first time that the top rock band from Sweden will visit Greece!

The quartet of blues pills was formed by Zach Anderson and Cory Berry, both former members of the excellent Radio Moscow, in late 2011. Their meeting with Elin Larsson in the US led first to the recording of some demos and then to the lineup of major music festivals such as Download, Rock am Ring and Wacken Open Air.
Their self-titled debut album went straight into the European charts and reached #4 in Germany and their second album, “Lady in Gold”, reached #1 in Germany. In 2020, they released their third album, “Holy Moly!”, which was critically acclaimed thanks to their gorgeous, psychedelic rock and Elin Larsson's intense, soulful voice that is often compared to Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse.
Particularly beloved in Greece, Blues Pills return to our country, completing an absolutely rousing rock'n'roll lineup, on 19/7.
