This year the historic café of Livaditis in the beautiful head village of Potamos Kythera, which since 2006 has been operating under the name “Ashtikon” and under the management of Maria and Dimitris Kontoleontas, closes 17 years of newer operation and 115 years of total journey. During these last 17 years, apart from food, drinks and spirits, Tsirigoians and visitors to the island have enjoyed in this historic place several of the most important cultural events of the island, with artists from Greece and abroad.
The “Astikon” for those who find themselves in Kythera is a priority in the “To Do” list of your trip. It is the place where all age groups of people meet and all the world's ideas, opinions, promises and I love you's are expressed... It is the place where the atmosphere is dressed with notes from every musical genre of every national origin (...after all, music knows no borders but unites people). It is the place that defeats time. It is the elixir of youth, the look of innocence that it shares with its patrons.
The “Urban” is now in the process of coming of age. This year, it renews its identity, showcasing the familiar facade of the historic building, illuminated with colours. Colours that resemble the countless bright moments it has offered us.
I don't need to write much about Maria and Dimitris. After all, neither too many words, nor hagiographies, nor temenades are suitable for them. I have only wishes. Good luck in the next straights and turns of life to them. They deserved to get this far, they deserve to continue. And don't forget: with dignity, courage and perseverance they will continue to make it.
