The Board of Directors of the Kythiraikos Association of Athens met in extraordinary session on 6 October 2025, following the announcement of the death of
GEORGIOU J. KASIMATIS
Georgios Kasimatis was a distinguished legal scholar, Professor of Constitutional Law at the Law School of the University of Athens.
A Greek with significant and remarkable action in the issues and events of our country.
A Kytherian who made us proud.
Kythera owes a lot to George Kasimatis and above all the preservation of the institution of Domestic Property.
In Trifyllio Foundation Kythira many important steps were taken during his Presidency.
The Kythira Foundation for Culture and Development with its so important activity on our island, was founded by George Kasimatis, which he chaired for many years.
He was an active member and supporter of all the Kytheraic Associations of Athens and Piraeus.
Ο Kythira Association of Athens owes him a lot. He was always an active member of the Association and for many years a member of its Board of Directors. He was our supporter and valuable advisor.
George Kasimatis was an enlightened man, a patriot and a true Kytherian.
We bid him farewell, conscious of his great loss.
We promise that his example will light our way and we will always remember him with love.
Let the soil of the Kytherian land be light and cover him.
The Board of Directors decided unanimously :
- The President of the Kytheraikos Association of Athens to attend his funeral in Kythera.
- To offer instead of a wreath and as a donation the amount of 500 € to the Kythera Nursing Home as a sign of honor to his memory.
- To announce the present resolution to the media of Kythera and to post it on the Association's website.
- To observe a minute's silence in memory of the deceased at the next meeting of the Board of Directors.
