KKE: Action plan for the coming period

Last week, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) met, reviewed the party's activities over the previous quarter, and agreed on a program of action for the coming period, based on the ’Call for a Militant Alliance of the Central Committee.«.

In its announcement, the KKE refers, among other things, to the party's rich program of initiatives, events, and interventions that took place during this period, noting «this activity needs to be continued and enriched so that the Party can fight from a better position for the rallying of working-class and popular forces, for the rise and improvement of action in the labor and trade union movement and the social alliance, in the struggle for a completely different path of development, for workers» power, for socialism.".

The announcement also emphasizes that «the action of the KKE can contribute to ensuring that the underlying, but also expressed, popular discontent is not vented or trapped in variations of the same strategy, but leads to more mass participation in the movement's processes, to a more stable and militant alliance with the KKE, to action based on its political proposal.».

«Our political activity and intervention also includes preparations for the parliamentary elections, since, regardless of the exact timing, 2022 will be a time of preparation or even the holding of parliamentary elections, while municipal and regional elections are scheduled for the fall of 2023,’ the announcement states, adding:

«The main fronts of the Party's action for the coming period, as well as the priorities of the struggle of the working-class movement, are:

–Measures to combat the pandemic, as well as measures to protect health and safety in the workplace. The requisitioning of the private health sector, measures in workplaces, public transport, schools, and the comprehensive vaccination program covering the entire population.

–The struggle for wage increases and the signing of collective labor agreements, combined with the struggle against inflation and for the protection of popular income.

–The struggle to defend workers' rights and trade union freedoms, the functioning of trade unions and the right to strike, to increase union membership and change the balance of power, against state repression and violence.

–Action on behalf of the city's self-employed workers on key issues such as accuracy, debts, Sunday holidays, etc.

–To subsistence farmers, mainly in relation to production costs, accuracy, but also the impact of natural disasters.

–Action for women's rights against all forms of inequality, violence, and abuse.

–Young people (workers, students, pupils). Overall, action on the front lines of education, culture, sports, and the fight against drugs and addiction.

–The international activity of the KKE, internationalist solidarity with peoples struggling against various forms of intervention (e.g., Cuba, Palestine, Kazakhstan). The struggle against Greece's involvement in the aggressive plans of the US-NATO-EU takes on particular significance due to dangerous international developments, the intensification of competition between the Euro-Atlantic bloc and Russia, China, and the impact of these developments on Greek-Turkish relations and the promotion of US-NATO-approved settlements and compromises (East Med, sovereign rights, etc.).

It is also stated that «in light of the course of the pandemic, but also in view of the two-year anniversary of its outbreak, the Party's intervention should be strengthened by raising scientific, political, and ideological issues, along with opposition to the government's plan for the “new National Health System”».

«At the same time, 2022 is a year of important anniversaries around which the Party can develop a multifaceted ideological and political intervention on important current issues (imperialist alliances and rivalries, imperialist war, capitalist crisis and development, etc.). These include:

–30 years since the Maastricht Treaty (transformation of the then EEC into the EU) and 20 years since EMU.

–70 years since Greece joined NATO.

–100 years since the Asia Minor War.

–80 years since the founding of ELAS.

»70 years since the execution of Nikos Belogiannis, and more," adds the party's announcement, concluding:

«The KKE is fighting with persistence and determination to promote the Social Alliance, all the forces within the movement and the struggles, throughout the country, all those who have a common interest in fighting for a complete change of course, for the overthrow.».
