The Cultural Association of Potamos Kythera issued a statement declaring its full support to the mobilizations of students, parents and teachers of the Kythera High School and Lyceum, who are strongly opposed to the compression of departments and the movement of teachers. The Association stresses that education is one of the most sensitive areas of state operation, as it shapes the future of the country, and that such actions, instead of solving problems, exacerbate them and cause further tensions.
According to the announcement of the Board of the Association, they are ready to offer any support that will be requested, while they have decided to send an email of protest to the Ministry of Education, asking for the immediate intervention of the State to fill the vacancies of teachers.
This support from the Potamos Cultural Association adds to the wave of protests taking place in Kythera, with the local community showing its concern for the future of education on the island.
