The Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Employees (PDOEDIN) intervened with the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiades, regarding the administration of the General Hospital of Kythera, denouncing interference in the the internal functioning of the trade union body of the employees.
According to the official document of PDEDIN, the Hospital Governor allegedly asked for information on the composition of the hospital's organs Workers' Union, as well as the way of making its decisions, something that the Federation characterizes as unlawful interference.
Allegations of illegal leakage of employees' names
PDEDN also complains that the Governor made illegal act, giving names of workers who were on duty, at the request of a patient's relatives, without a prosecutor's order. This act, according to the Federation, endangers the safety of workers, who may be targeted by third parties and face illegal actions.
Instead of acknowledging his mistake, the Commander allegedly proceeded to new interventions in the operation of the Association, a fact that PDEDN attributes to attempted intimidation of the employees.
Request for intervention by the Ministry of Health
The Federation requests direct intervention by the Minister of Health, in order to stop practices that, as he says, violate the workers' rights and trade union freedom.
The matter has also been notified to Administration of the 2nd Health Region (YPE) and the Employees Union of Kythera Hospital.
PDEDN underlines the need for protection of workers and respect for trade union rights, warning that it will not allow arbitrary administrative interventions that undermine the functioning of the Association.
