His last breath left on Tuesday 18 November, the former minister of SYRIZA Alekos Flambouraris, at the age of 87. He had served as Minister of State in both governments of Alexis Tsipras and was a SYRIZA MP from 2015 to 2023.
Who was Alekos Flambouraris
Ο Alekos Flambouraris was born in 1938 in Athens. He was a graduate of Graz University in Austria and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and had worked as a civil engineer. In his youth he was organised in the KKE and the Lambrakis Youth and was arrested for his anti-dictatorial activities.
Post-independence, he joined the KKE Domestic, Synaspismos and then SYRIZA, of which he was a member of the Central Committee.
He served as Minister of State for the Coordination of the Government Project in both governments of Alexis Tsipras and in September 2015 he was elected as a member of the Athens Parliament. After the reshuffle of November 5, 2016, he retained his position in the Ministry, except that he assumed responsibilities for solving the daily problems of citizens and for major development initiatives.
In the parliamentary elections of 2019, he was in fourth place on the SYRIZA State ballot paper and was re-elected as a Member of Parliament.
In the parliamentary elections of May and June 2023, he was placed in the last honorary position on the State ballot paper.
