The new terminal will be 17 times larger than the current terminal.
New infrastructure development projects are underway at Paros Airport, supervised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
The airport was visited by the CAA's Commander, George Saounatsos, who had meetings with the staff, led by airport manager Stella Sarri, the mayor Konstantinos Bizas and Intrakat's project manager for the new airport Alexandros Kairidis.
In particular, the projects under implementation, with a budget of more than €41 million, include:
New terminal building of 12.500 sq.m. and landscaping.
New control tower.
New fire station.
Bilateral extension of the corridor, in order to obtain a total operational length of 1,800m, as well as new light signage.
Bilateral extension of the aircraft parking floor, with 4 additional spaces for jet planes, with parallel lighting - light signalling works.
New car parking spaces for 550 cars, plus special spaces for buses, disabled people and electric car charging.
Modern biological treatment plant with 3-stage wastewater treatment.
Hydrocarbon separator unit to control runoff to adjacent sensitive receptors.
Installation of a photovoltaic system with a power of 100 Kwp using solar energy and interconnection of the system to the network of the electricity operator (DEDDIE).
CAA's Commander, Giorgos Saounatsos, said, «The functional and modern design of the terminal guarantees that Paros will be the leading destination for tourist arrivals through the airport and the passenger public will enjoy the travel experience through high quality infrastructure.
Upon completion of the works, the new terminal will be 17 times larger than the current terminal, which has a surface area of 745 square metres.The phased handover of the new terminal to the CAA is scheduled to begin by the summer of 2026.
At the same time, the extension of the runway from 1,400m to 1,800m will enable flights with larger aircraft, accompanied by an increase in the number of parking spaces for aircraft and helicopters. This large-scale development of the airport is progressing without affecting flight operations,» he said.
According to the statistics, in 2023 Paros Airport handled 331,852 passengers and 6,781 aircraft movements.
Based on the statistics so far, an increase in passenger traffic of 12% is recorded in 2024.
