This orchid, quite common in the eastern Mediterranean and northward as far as Yugoslavia and the Black Sea, blooms from late March through late May. On Kythira, I found it almost everywhere on the island in scrubland, rocky terrain, and fallow fields. It resembles the milky-white orchid (see previous post), which, however, blooms earlier—from late February—and is quite rare on Kythira.
