A new phase of the radical renovation of the Kythira Nursing Home has been completed.

Another phase in the extensive renovation of the Kythira Nursing Home was completed this month. Specifically, following the renovation of the dining area several years ago, the completion of the exterior thermal insulation, and the complete reconstruction of the kitchen, both of which were high-cost projects funded by the Social Association «PANAGIA MYRTIDIOTISSA» in Brisbane, Australia, the renovation of the residents’ living and accommodation areas also proceeded. Specifically, the exterior walls of the nursing home building were completely repainted; nine residents’ rooms on the first floor were renovated, including the replacement of electrical and plumbing systems, toilets, and other furnishings, including the replacement of beds with ones suitable for nursing home residents—including those with disabilities—as well as a complete renovation of the suspended ceiling, window frames, doors, and the refurbishment of the hallways, along with the installation of an intercom system to enable safer and faster staff response in emergencies. In addition to these specific works, changes were also made to the ground floor, where a modern pharmacy and medical office were set up, complete with the necessary medical equipment.

The above work was funded primarily by donations from private individuals—private donors—with the support of the Trifyllio Foundation, and reconstruction work on the remaining six rooms on the first floor will begin very soon.

We would like to take this opportunity to note that, following a surprise inspection by the auditing authorities last October, the report they compiled was full of praise for the way the nursing home operates and the care provided to its residents.

Below we list once again the names of all the donors for this phase of the project, whose names are also listed on special plaques outside each room or office that has been renovated thanks to these donations. Specifically, the donors were (in alphabetical order):

  3. Marietta Kasimati: 1-room apartment
