In a press release the municipal party «All Together» informs about its parliamentary work in the recent meeting of the Municipal Council. Read below:

«A belated apology»...

With a delay of a few months, Mayor Harhalakis apologized from our faction for what he had said about «Patrons» against us during the election period. We recall that in his pre-election meeting in Potamos he had claimed (he, the opponent of populism...) that our party is led by «patrons». Last Saturday 27 January, during the first meeting for 2024 of the new Kythera-Antikythera Municipal Council, we invited him to tell us who these «patrons» are. He asked us for an apology which was immediately accepted. We just note that in Kythira cafes, citizens charge «others» with patronage and interference...

During the meeting of the Municipal Council, our party remained firm in its decision for creative criticism and contribution with elaborate proposals that will contribute to the progress and prosperity of our islands.

1) For us, the highest priority is to launch solutions to address the demographic problem (10% population reduction in our islands only in the last decade). Our party is already working on a plan with realistic proposals which will be presented in the near future.

2) The need to solve the problem of the ferry connection especially in the winter period was highlighted. No replacement of the PORFYRUSA for January & February during the annual maintenance of the vessel is foreseen. At the same time there is insecurity for the Aqua Jewel, which is constantly changing its itineraries so that no one can plan their travel safely. We call for a review of the contract terms.

3) We asked to facilitate the functioning of the municipal communities. Under the responsibility of the president or council president of the township, to use the township seal for the needs of current correspondence and to sign certificates, attestations and other documents for the convenience of residents. It is necessary to authorize them with a relevant decision of the mayor (circular 94 Operation of municipal communities AP 8050/26-01-2024). In addition, it is necessary to give the presidents the so-called fixed advance to deal immediately and without bureaucracy the emergency situations that can not be provided for by the annual contractor contracts. Even if there are not the necessary staff in the municipality, there are now enough paid deputy mayors who should finally produce real work and not public relations, as the mayor does, and the mayor often does the secretarial support for himself.

4) The issue of the necessity of establishing a town planning department in Kythera was raised once again after the recent letter of Mr.Moralis that he is willing to discontinue (once again) the administrative support of this department.

Our faction «All Together» will position itself on the issue of the downgrading of the Kythera Hospital and the unacceptable negligence of the responsible parties, in the next Press Release.

Finally, the head of the major opposition in the Municipality of Kythera-Antikythera, Mr. Zacharias Souris said:
