«Solutions to the problems of education».
With optimism and the best wishes of all our students, teachers and parents, the new school year started today in Kythera. The mayoral candidate Mr. Zacharias Souris, candidates for municipal councilors and members of the party «All Together, Kythira-Antikythera» attended the traditional blessings.
Unfortunately, for one more year the students will be studying in buildings that range from problematic to unsuitable. The idea for two new elementary schools which has been «maturing» for years seems to have been finally abandoned, the River Elementary School has problems, while the kindergarten in Prairie has become a »champion« in unsuitability. In the visual material provided, the current situation is revealed. Fortunately, parents will clean the area tomorrow so that our children can attend in a decent place.
Regarding teacher vacancies, promises have been made to fill them soon. We will monitor this and intervene if there is cause to do so.
The candidate for Mayor, Mr. Zacharias Souris, after the consecration, made the following statement. Our young people must have the best conditions for education, sports, culture and entertainment. Unfortunately in Kythera and education has been put «on automatic« because the outgoing Municipal Authority is unable or indifferent to address the problems. We will fully adhere to our programmatic commitments. The school buildings will be upgraded and new ones will be built which will meet modern requirements. No more communicative problem solving. We need solutions and we need them now.
