A US official revealed to Reuters that al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a CIA air strike in Afghanistan's capital Kabul over the weekend. Earlier the White House had announced that Joe Biden would report on a «successful counter-terrorism strike». Al-Zawahiri had taken over the leadership of al-Qaeda after the execution of Osama bin Laden. He was born in Egypt and was 71 years old.
