Ever wondered what Oruk Reiss was investigating, which it wasn't investigating because it was “noisy” two years ago on days like this” ?
The truth is that it didn't take that much effort and noise to rediscover the Anaximander underwater mountains south of Castelorizo and what they are made of.
They could buy the relevant satellite photos from NASA, from the satellites they used to detect huge amounts of frozen methane and in the China Sea, and under the Arctic ice or in Siberia, the ones that caught fire the year before last and burned 1/3 of it.
Even more easily, they could buy the results of corresponding research by FHW in the same area (Mediterranean Mountains Anaximander, Greek Geosphere, FHW Journal, April 2008, ISSN: 1791-2210, Volume 2, Issue 3) from where the relevant mining photo was taken. Known things, discovered 17 years ago, without raising at that time the question of ownership of the area...
What's that frozen stuff?
Methane, the natural gas we know, has been trapped in water ice for 250 million years (at that time it had thawed suddenly due to global warming, filling the atmosphere effectively causing the Great Death. The 95% of the Earth's embryos died instantly from poisoning).
We are in danger from these ice sheets again if the planet warms up further, and not so much from the plant food, carbon dioxide. It was found there slowly seeping out of the underlying gas deposits, and is the best evidence of their existence.
Logic says that all this ice needs to be collected as quickly as possible and turned into something else before it wipes us out! One cubic meter of this ice, when melted, yields 60 cubic meters of natural gas!
The Anaximandros Mountains, but also South of Crete and West of Zakynthos, are home to some of the largest known concentrations of frozen natural gas in the world. About 100 times the amount of all the known and potential gas deposits of Egypt, Israel and Cyprus combined!
Natural gas already extracted naturally and frozen, at a relatively shallow depth, and which can cover all of Europe's energy needs for a hundred years. So it's a waste of money.
How is it collected?;
Three different processes are being experimentally tested for the recovery of methane from frozen hydrates:
- With hot water pumped into the methane hydrate deposit through a well. It's a fussy method, but they're still working on it...
-With Decompression: drilling into the deposits from above by releasing the pressure, like puncturing the tube in a bicycle tire. As the pressure drops, the hydrates slowly break down and the methane is released. A technique the Chinese have developed a lot, and the Japanese are now copying it to solve their acute energy problem after the Fukushima accident from the few hydrates in their sea.
- By carbon dioxide injection: methane is released from hydrates when they are infused with another gas. Carbon dioxide easily displaces methane and takes its place in the ice. Carbon dioxide hydride is significantly more stable than methane hydride. The method solves two problems: It sequesters carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas responsible for climate change, and provides methane fuel without extraction. Reducing what is in a state that can recreate the next Great Death.
But the technologies required for this method take around 8-10 years to mature. Unless more money is spent on R&D and no better ideas than those systematically researched by mainly Chinese researchers, and which, as usual, lack subversive imagination...
So our “good neighbour” was not looking to solve any current energy or economic problem. He grabbed the area to bargain it while claiming 18 islands and the whole of Cyprus, wanting to abrogate the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne. He knows very well the value of the ice down there.
And having said all that and having been blown away, I would like to ask the question:
What morbid brain could think of entering into a full-blown negotiation of this important energy reserve of ours, risking the Dodecanese and the rest of Cyprus with those who still maintain an occupying army over it? With the final expected result being the gift of energy reserves to our neighbour's bully? In a flash we got away with it from that frau Merkel, who was trying to put those ice caps on them too, and through memorandums, from 2015, we now have to do the same by giving them away to Erdogan and Putin behind his back?
No co-exploitation of this wealth can take place as long as Turkey wants to bargain it with our sovereign rights and the neophiles want to mortgage it for the old and new debts they have created, which are as much as 1/100th of the current value of these ice caps!
And there is absolutely nothing to prevent us from making any digital means of trading with a fraction of the value of this frozen white gold, to finance our growth endogenously. Including the development of smarter technologies to wipe out this ice before it wipes us out.
Whew, I've said it again and I'm blown away, as I said above!
What don't you understand?
