In Thessaly, Dimitris Koureta leads over Kostas Agorastos. With 28% of the votes counted, he has 57.25%, while the current regional governor has 42.75%.
Dimitris Ptochos has a slight lead over Petros Tatoulis in the Peloponnese region. With 35% of the polling stations counted, he has 51.78% of the vote compared to 48.22% for his rival.
The elections in Eastern Macedonia – Thrace and the Northern Aegean are turning into a close race. In the former, Christodoulos Topsidis is leading with 50.97%, while the current regional governor has secured 49.03% of the votes (45% counted). In the latter, the current regional governor Konstantinos Mouzouris has so far received 52.58% (46% counted), while Alkiviadis Stefanis has received 47.42%.
Ioannis Trepeklis secures a clear lead in the Ionian Islands region.
With almost 25% of the polling stations counted, she has received 67.20% of the votes, compared to 32.79% for the current regional governor of Rhodes, Kratsa Tsagaropoulou.
In Western Macedonia, Giorgos Amanatidis leads with 55.92% compared to 44.08% for the current regional governor Giorgos Kasapidis (50%).
Upset in Athens and Thessaloniki, Peletidis' third term in Patras
The results so far indicate a change of leadership in the municipalities of Athens and Thessaloniki, while the municipality of Patras remains in the same hands.
In the country's largest municipality, Haris Doukas leads with 55.94% over the current mayor, Kostas Bakoyannis, who has received 44.06% of the votes, with over 80% counted.
In the co-capital, Stelios Angeloudis has a large lead with 67.22% over the current mayor Konstantinos Zervas, who has 32.78%, with 75% of the votes counted.
In the third largest municipality in the country, the current mayor, Kostas Peletidis, secured a third term, receiving 56.861% of the vote in 751 polling stations, while his opponent, Konstantinos Svolis, received 43.141%.
