The lawyer Vasilis Spiliotopoulos, after open letter to the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the problem of water supply specific settlements of Kythera, made new posts on Facebook with accusations to the Mayor of Kythera Efstratios Harhalakis. He strongly criticizes him for the inadequacy in managing the problems of everyday life and in particular the issue of water supply. The lack of water in various villages of the island, which has been going on for weeks, has caused anger and concern among citizens, while the Municipal Authority is urging the... patience.
Showcase projects instead of solving real problems
Mr. Spiliotopoulos characterizes the Mayor «erratic and evil municipal ruler» that instead of serving the citizens, treats them as feudal lord. He also complains that with the inadequate management of the island's infrastructure the Municipal Authority is playing with the health of the citizens. He adds: «Mr. Harhalakis prefers to invest in window dressing rather than solve the real problems of Kythera. The lack of transparency and hypocrisy in dealing with community issues is problematic and requires immediate attention.».
The lawyer's posts sparked strong reactions on social media. Many residents expressed their support for Mr. Spiliotopoulos, denouncing the attitude of the Municipal Authority.

The beautiful island of Kythera is tormented by a municipal authority headed by an oonoi medieval hegemonism who, instead of assisting the citizens who elected him, ignores them and even treats them with insolence. This is a demonstration not only of incompetence but of vulgarity. Protect Kythera from the totalitarianism of irrationality, stupidity and ignorance. A beautiful island is being destroyed!»
«A bendy little paragon»
In another post, Mr.Spiliotopoulos states: «While the villages of Kythera including the Agia Pelagia spent a nightmare summer - and still are - the local municipality announces the completion of projects and asks residents to be patient. If this is not political amoralism of irresponsible local government then what is it? It is the the response of some paragon and his henchmen to muddy the waters for their inadequacies and omissions. Almost ten years he's been running this petty municipal lord who has thrown his full weight behind apathy of the island, ignoring the basic and primary needs of the island. What the poor man doesn't understand is that he is appointed. - an employee of the citizens who have demands on him and not vice versa.».
«Kytherians, Mr. Harhalakis is mocking you»
Addressing the Kytherians he writes: «Mr. Harhalakis is mocking you. I and many others do not vote in Kythera, but we chose your place out of selfless love. As I personally am a three-time cancer patient and as I am currently unable to visit the island and out of insecurity for my health due to the current situation, I have decided together with some other - also selfless - friends of Kythera to demand the obvious from the Greek state and not only».
The threat from an initiate...
Mr Spiliotopoulos complains that «an insider» of the mayor threatened him for his open letter to the Prime Minister. «They are pathetically farting if they think we will shut up or stop. It is time to claim the primary goods for Tsiriyos and our homes, and to enforce legality» he replies.
The Silence of the Mayor
Although the accusations against Mr. Harhalakis are harsh and have sparked interest inside and outside Kythera, the Mayor himself and the Municipal Authority have not formally responded to the lawyer's accusations. This silence has caused further tension and controversy from residents.
Pre-announcement of legal action
Mr.Spiliotopoulos announces that within the day the next moves and actions will be announced, which will have the exclusive aim of safeguarding the rights of Kythirians and foreign residents of the island. He also states that the time has come for the enforcement of legality and that they will assert this right with all their strength.
