Development Minister Adonis Georgiades admitted that the government did not impose measures in the city, despite the recommendations of infectious disease specialists. The prime minister's narrative is collapsing.
«Some infectious disease specialists we were told that there must be a quarantine in Thessaloniki before the feast of St. Demetrios» said today speaking to SKAI, the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiades, indicating that the Kyriakos Mitsotakis in a recent interview with Alpha, he said lies.
At the same time, Adonis Georgiades admitted that «out of respect for tradition, for orthodoxy, for faith, we did not quarantine Thessaloniki».
As if that was not enough, the Minister of Development noted that «that day the faithful flocked, the Church could not control this influx, it is not that people did not want to, they could not. And then Thessaloniki became the city that mourned the most victims».
”Out of respect for tradition and even though our experts told us to quarantine the animals earlier, we did not do it and we mourned victims”.
Isn't that a direct admission of a crime? pic.twitter.com/VV8Gs3COmT- Hieronymus boss (@JeronymoBoss) January 5, 2021
It is recalled that the Kyriakos Mitsotakis on 7 December had falsely claimed that «at that time there were no requests to close (Thessaloniki) earlier from anyone. No expert has ever suggested this to us either..
SYRIZA: «Unbelievable confession by Georgiades»
«The cynical confession of Mr Georgiades that the government ignored the recommendations of infectious disease specialists for quarantine in Thessaloniki before St Demetrios, with the result that the city mourns the most victims of the pandemic, confirms the vulgar lies of Mr Mitsotakis, who said in an interview with Alpha that “no expert had suggested it to us”,» the opposition party said in a statement.
He added that the development minister «confirms something worse: the criminal responsibilities of the government, which takes decisions in the absence of the Commission and experts, putting political costs above human life».
