Coronavirus-India: 8.4 million cases, 125 thousand deaths

India trails the US in the number of infections, fears of a new outbreak of cases due to the upcoming Hindu festivals.

47,638 cases of the disease increased in the previous 24 hours SARS-CoV-2 in India, with the total number of cases reaching 8.41 million, according to data released today by the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

At the same time, others 670 patients succumbed to COVID-19, with the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic reaching 124,985 dead to this stage.

India has the second highest number of coronavirus infections in the world, behind the US (9.6 million). Cases have been on the decline since September, but experts have warned that a new resurgence is threatened as the period of major Hindu festivals has begun.
