The installation of special air conditioning units at the G.A.K. Annex in Kythira, which is housed in a building at the highest and most exposed point of the Castle of Chora, has been successfully completed, fulfilling a long-standing need.
The Kythira Annex of the GAK houses Venetian documents of unique historical significance for the island and hosts the valuable Kythira Photographic Archive, which was recently created under the auspices of the Kythira Foundation for Culture & Development (KIPA).
The installation of special units to protect the archive from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and strong winds includes: six (6) air conditioners, four (4) dehumidifiers, and six (6) special windbreaks.
The purchase and installation of the units was funded entirely by the Aronis Foundation of Australia, following the mediation of Mr. Stathatos and the positive recommendation of the Kythira Association of Athens. The project was coordinated by K.I.P.A. and the installation work was supervised by Mr. Stathatos, as head of the Photographic Archive.
The new units have already been put into operation, thus protecting the valuable contents of the GAK, which are vulnerable to humidity and excessive temperature fluctuations, as well as the health of employees.
