The Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades invites travellers to visit the island of Dionysus and Ariadne to experience one of the most impressive carnival events in Greece between 15-17 March 2024. As the new thematic video illustrates, colours, musical traditions and revivals of Dionysian customs will dominate a full three-day event that will be organised by the Municipality for yet another year. Visitors and residents alike will have the opportunity to be introduced to the Dionysian aura of Carnival from the picturesque villages to the Venetian Castle and from the Antipodes to modern Naxos.

With the «colorful» Cordellatus to seduce and the «noisy» Koudounatus to «awaken» the mood, myths, legends and customs of many centuries will «come alive» again in the picturesque alleys. The events start on Friday 15/3 with a Dionysian event, continue on Saturday 16/3 with the popular torch relays and culminate on Sunday 17/3 with the traditional Naxian carnival.

The Naxian Carnival, with events and happenings that highlight the rich and distinct cultural heritage of our land, flooded with the colors of Cordellas and the sounds of the Bells, with Fustanelades and byirakia, with Maenads and Satyrs, torchbearers and Carnivalists, invites you this year to taste the magic.
