In a Facebook post, the Kythira High School made known its position and will to participate again this year in the celebrations of 25 March, despite the large increase in coronavirus cases on the island. At the same time, he denounces all those who question the contribution of the educational community to national anniversaries, which, he stresses, he always honours and works to highlight.
Read below the statement of the Kythera High School.
«Despite the large number of cases in students and teachers, our school participates in the celebrations for the 25th of March according to the possibilities available. We would like to thank the President and the Board of Directors of the Parents and Guardians Association of Kythera High School, the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor of Education of the Municipality of Kythera as well as the great majority of our compatriots who surround the school with love and understanding and support it in every way, especially in the difficult situations that we are all experiencing at this time. Those voices, which with indifference and fanaticism denounce schools for not honouring national anniversaries, are obviously unaware of the extensive dedications to them, which are carried out under all circumstances, on the eve of each celebration. Such voices are unbecoming of the culture we all want to cultivate for our children.»
