The richest person on Earth sometimes lives «below the poverty line.» This is revealed by his occasional partner Elon Musk and the mother of two of his children, Grimes.
The musician inadvertently revealed to *Vanity Fair* that she had a second child, via a surrogate, with the CEO of Tesla.
He also revealed, however, that the lives of the richest people on the planet are nothing like what many people imagine. For example, when the couple was living in Los Angeles and discovered a hole in the mattress on Grimes’s side of the bed, Musk refused to buy a new mattress but suggested she bring her own from home.
«He doesn’t live like a billionaire. Sometimes he lives below the poverty line,» Grimes told *Vanity Fair*. «It got to the point where I said, ‘Can’t we just not live in a $40,000 house with no security? Where our neighbors are filming us and there’s no security, and I’m eating peanut butter for eight days in a row?’».
In fact, in May 2020, Musk had tweeted that he would sell all his possessions and no longer own a home, as he wanted to focus on his goal of establishing a human colony on Mars. Today, he is believed to be living in a tiny prefab home worth $50,000, which he rents from his company, SpaceX.
Musk has a total of seven children, as he and Grimes welcomed a baby girl in December via a surrogate.
While the couple had intended to keep the birth of their child out of the public eye, their secret was revealed when the baby started crying while Grimes was giving an interview to Vanity Fair. Musk and Grimes named their daughter Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, though they affectionately call her Y. Their eldest son is named X Æ A-Xii, pronounced X A.I. Archangel or simply X.
Grimes told *Vanity Fair* that their relationship is very «fluid,» and after the interview was published, she revealed on social media that they had since broken up again. Recently, the CEO of Tesla has been photographed with Australian actress Natasha Bassett.
