In light of recent developments regarding the urgent issue of drilling in the Diakopoulianoi area, the Karava Municipal Community is convening an extraordinary general meeting today, Monday, August 5, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at the community office in the area.
The issue of drilling has sparked strong reactions from residents, who are expressing deep concern about the potential impact on the natural resources in their area. Previous drilling at the same site has already raised concerns about potential ecological disasters, a fact that has intensified the local community’s opposition.
According to a statement by Mr. Kosmas Tzortzopoulos, the presence of all residents is essential for making decisions that will protect the environment and the community’s interests. The absence of a feasibility study, as one resident noted, prior to the start of construction raises suspicions of potentially opaque motives, while participants express concern that the decision may have already been made regardless of the community’s views.
Today’s meeting is expected to serve as the setting for a lively and interesting discussion, with the goal of reaching an agreement between residents and the municipal government that will safeguard the future of the area and its residents.
For more information and to stay updated on developments, interested parties are invited to attend the meeting at the Karava community office at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
