Annual Accountability of the Property Committee on Sunday morning

The Municipality of Kythera invites the members of the Municipal Council and the representatives of the Municipal Communities to attend the special meeting of the 31 August 2025 on the accountability of the Commission for the Inherent Property of Kythera and Antikythera. The meeting will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the «Mayor Artemios Calligeros» hall in Chora Kythera. The meeting is open to citizens.

The invited guests have been notified of the Progress Report 2024-2025 of Domestic. The report, signed by President Venardos, records a series of interventions, positions and issues of interest to citizens. Read the report in the text below and in the file below.

REPORT ON ACTIVITIES 2024-2025

1. The new Board of Directors that emerged from the 12/09/2024 elections and is implementing the 2025 budget has completed some work and has many more planned for the upcoming period.
2. Because our island is affected by the scourge of fires, we will proceed with the creation of fire safety zones, improvement and maintenance of existing rural roads and the opening of new ones, to serve the residents of the area in conjunction with the protection of their land from fires. This programme has been suspended following complaints from the Free Kythira minor opposition until these are resolved, with any consequences that may arise from this suspension in the event of fires. For this reason, the relevant government departments have been informed, so in the event of a fire, the above are taken into account in the formation of files and included mainly in the case of disasters.
3. The rural road from Agios Haralambos Potamos to Aroniadika was maintained, following a request by the President of the Local Community of Potamos for the convenience of the farmers of the area.
4. A ramp for the disabled was installed in Agia Pelagia, following a request from the local association.
5. Fire safety measures were taken around the Holy Shrines of Panagia Myrtidiotissa and Agia Moni, which after the recent decisions of the Council of State, the application of the Metropolis was rejected outright. These decisions, in violation of Article 94S, are not accepted by the Metropolis even to this day. There is no possibility of an appeal to the European Court of Justice due to its jurisdiction. Consequently, this issue has been closed for good; for historical reference and information, the corresponding signs have been placed.
6. A fire extinguishing machine was purchased for the Myrtidia Sanctuary, which will fully ensure the safety of the Sanctuary from fires.
7. The renovation of three (3) cells and the surrounding area is planned.
8. New pumps were installed in the Myrtidia boreholes.
9. Complete painting was done in Agia Moni, in Agios Georgios in Vouno and in sections where it was necessary in the Holy Pilgrimage of Myrtidia.
10. A programmatic contract was signed with the Municipal Cooperation Network of the Regional Unit of the Attica Islands for the preparation of studies, permits, etc. for the restoration of Sematorio.
11. Maintenance of an existing dirt road that runs through the «Roots» area of Milopotamos, following a request from residents (Dim. Hlenzou, Zervos, etc.).
12. Maintenance of the dirt road that connects the church of Agios Leontos with the settlement of Alexandradades and maintenance of the surrounding parking area outside the church.
13. Garden maintenance and pruning of Myrtidia trees.
14. Supply of a metal door in Agia Moni.
15. Maintenance and repair of wooden parts of the interior.
16. Maintenance and repair of the Myrtidia water supply network.
17. Maintenance and repair of the water supply tanks of Agia Moni and Myrtidia.
18. Supply of a Myrtidia coin meter.
19. Planting and irrigation of olive trees in Myrtidia estates (Livadi, Kalamos, Manitochori) and their fencing to protect them from stray goats.
20. Pruning, ploughing and fertilization of olive trees in Myrtidia estates.
21. Clearing, cutting, grubbing of bushes of Myrtidia farms in Karvounades and Katochori.
22. Improvement and regeneration of public spaces in Enchori (regeneration of the square of Karvounades).
23. The mapping of the cave of Agia Sophia Mylopotamos was completed (approximately 22.000 €).
24. Immediate replacement of the power generator at the Holy Pilgrimage of Panagia Myrtidiotissa after the fire of 26/07/2025.
25. Replacement of microphone installation at the Holy Pilgrimage of Panagia Myrtidiotissa after the fire of 26/07/2025.
26. For the decision of the Council of State and non-acceptance by the Local Church, there will be full verbal information, as well as for the placement of the signs.
