SYRIZA attacks the Prime Minister on the occasion of the self test

Koumoundourou speaks of additional tests, which have no benefit for the citizen, since he will then have to pay for a molecular test. It calls the prime minister a «loyal salesman of Siemens».

Hard personal attack on the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the occasion of the self test, unleashes the SYRIZA-PS, in a statement.

«Mr Mitsotakis behaves even in the pandemic as Siemens' most loyal salesman. From the “call centre” giveaways to the “free self-tests” to a pandemic on the road,» he says.

It goes on to say: «The only European company that has been approved for self-testing is Siemens. Coincidentally, just a few days after their approval in Germany, the government of Mr.Mitsotakis tried to pass the midnight of the eve of the National Anniversary, photographic call for expressions of interest with a deadline of 1,5 days for the supply of 10 million tests.

Mr Mitsotakis does not care about:

- The calls from experts and the opposition for the obvious for a year: prescription and reimbursement of molecular tests by EOPYY and massive targeted checks on outbreaks of hyper-transmission (workplaces, public transport, schools, highly vulnerable structures).

- The significantly reduced reliability compared to molecular tests.

- The fact that “will be declared on a platform on an optional basis”, so they will not contribute significantly to the epidemiological picture of the spread, isolation and tracing of cases.

- The fact that even if someone tests positive with the “free” self test, then they have to pay for a regular molecular test for confirmation, so zero benefit for the citizen.

- The directive of the ECDC which stresses that, the self-test can only be used as a supplementary tool and in no way replace molecular tests.

- The fact that there is absolutely no organisation as to how such a large volume of tests will be distributed and the complete ignorance of pharmacists.».
