In the Government Gazette, the electricity subsidy for agricultural use, what is the procedure?

Published in the Government Gazette, signed by the new Minister of Rural Development and Food, Georgios Georgantas, for the granting of subsidy from Energy Transition Fund of electricity for agricultural use.

All electricity consumers with rural supplies who are contracted to variable electricity supply tariffs and are connected to low or medium voltage are eligible for the subsidy., as well as electricity consumers with medium or low voltage supplies who are active in the field of agricultural product drying. To be eligible for the subsidy, they must have informed both the competent electricity network operator and the electricity supplier of the tax identification number (AFM) of the user of the supply.

The subsidy is provided for consumption during the months of August, September, October, November, and December of the year 2021.

The subsidy is equal to eighty percent (80%) of the total adjustment clause included in the consumption bills—regardless of consumption limit—minus, respectively, for each month of application of the measure, the discount or any subsidy announced by the relevant supplier and relating to the pricing of agricultural supplies.

As stated in the Government Gazette, the aid for each beneficiary may not exceed €20,000. The subsidy is granted in accordance with the conditions of the EU Regulation on de minimis aid to enterprises active in the primary production of agricultural products.

Procedure

The subsidy, calculated for each beneficiary, shall be applied to electricity consumption bills, or settlement bills issued within five (5) days of the entry into force of this decision and covering consumption periods falling within the period of application of the measure.

In the event that an invoice has already been issued, to which an adjustment clause relating to the wholesale market price of electricity has been charged, the subsidy shall apply to a consumption bill issued within ten (10) days of the decision coming into force.

The subsidy is granted to beneficiaries by the respective Supplier who represented them during the period of application of this measure. To this end, the Supplier shall enter a credit entry in the beneficiary's electricity consumption account, marked «Energy Transition Fund Credit.».
