The Center for Traditional Culture and Contemporary Art, with the support of the Municipality of Kythira, is organizing the Fervolite Lace Exhibition, which will take place at the Potamos Cultural Center on July 24, 25, and 26 July, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The exhibition features works created by women from Kythira, members of the Center for Traditional Culture and Contemporary Art, who, with passion and love, keep the art of Fervolite alive.
Ferbolite lace is part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, recognizing its significance as a valuable cultural legacy.
The exhibition highlights both the traditional and contemporary expressions of Fervolite’s art, featuring handicrafts as well as jewelry, which demonstrate that tradition can inspire contemporary creativity.
At the same time, through the Center’s educational program, the children had the opportunity to learn about and become familiar with the Fervolite technique, helping to spread this unique art form to younger generations. After learning about the Fervolite technique, they recreated the lace patterns in clay, demonstrating that tradition can inspire even younger generations.
Entrance is free.
