In a historic decision taken on Monday afternoon 21/12/20, the European Medicines Agency, gave approval for the vaccine for Pfizer/BioNTech and at the same time the hope that the light at the end of the tunnel pandemic, will now begin to fade.
The approval was decided by the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) σas part of the evaluation of the COVID-19 BNT162b2 vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer. The purpose of the meeting, according to the EMA, was to evaluate additional information received from the company at the Agency's request and to complete the evaluation, if possible.
The extraordinary meeting scheduled for 29 December to complete the assessment will be maintained if necessary, the EMA clarified.
