FEW days after the outcome of the elections on June 25 One would expect a dialogue to begin on the causes of a strategic defeat. Such an electoral shift must be analyzed and discussed in depth, not with a spirit of «self-flagellation,» but in order to open up the ideological and political path for the future. We need self-criticism, but we also need perspective.
Unfortunately, This debate remains unresolved... The two main reasons for the defeat, among many others, were the vague political identity, image, and strategy, as well as the inability to connect with the masses and social movements.
IT IS It is characteristic that we did not predict the 20-point difference in the May elections, precisely because we had not understood the processes taking place in Greek society.
THE DIALOGUE This cannot be done on television by party bigwigs, but requires a democratic process of synthesis at the grassroots level, among the citizens. The voice of the party's members and friends must shine through. SYRIZA-P.S.
IF WE DIAGNOSE If we identify the causes in a timely manner (and agree on them), then we will be able to shape our political identity, our political future. For this to happen, we must prioritize «politics» over personalities. Of course, the latter play their part in history, but political platforms form the basis of ideological support, which individuals serve and sometimes take a step further. If the Left wants to govern in modern terms, it must have a political orientation. Strategy is one thing, and political identity is another, setting red lines and defining short- and long-term political goals. Until now, SYRIZA-P.S. knows not what it wants, but what it does not want: it does not want to become an outdated «right-wing» and compromised social democracy, nor a fearful Left of protest that does not want to take responsibility.
COMMON Our concern is to build the new great governmental Left of our time. This discussion is not merely theoretical. It touches on everyday politics.
IN A FEW months N.D. will begin the process of constitutional revision. This is a process that affects the lives of citizens, not only for the next four years, but possibly for decades to come. We cannot go into this battle ideologically unarmed.
