The candidate Mayor of Kythera - Antikythera Mr. Zacharias Souris on the occasion of the situation created by the sewage leakage yesterday Sunday in Potamos, made the following statement:
«In no way are we happy about the unprecedented sewage spill tonight, Sunday night, in the River. In no way are we seeking to score political points from such a negative event for the businesses, residents and visitors to the River. However, we cannot but stigmatise the defiant indifference of Mr. Harhalakis who for nine long years did absolutely nothing about this hot issue of the largest settlement of Kythera. Let him finally tell us what specific actions he has taken during his years as Mayor for the biggest public health problem, which is the uncontrolled dumping of sewage sludge into the environment?;
The answer is, unfortunately, nothing. Particularly at a time when funds for such environmental projects are easily given by the state and the regions.
But let Mr Harhalakis not worry. On 8 October the citizens of our islands will give him the only answer that suits him: «That's it, Mr Harhalakis. Our islands are finally turning a new page by electing a new municipal authority with a plan and a vision, leaving behind improvisations, amateurism and big words without impact.»
