Statement by Zacharias Souris, on the independence of Mr. Magoulas Nikolaos
Without any prior information, I was informed today, shortly before the meeting of the Municipal Council, about the independence of the councillor of our party, Mr.
I wish him good luck in his future political plans, but I cannot help but point out the contradictions and expediencies highlighted by his decision, as he described them in his statement.
He says he is troubled by the toxic political debate that has dominated our islands in recent months, but his attitude does not contribute to the consolidation of the political climate. On the contrary, with his vague remarks and unfounded statements, he attempts to justify a choice which, for all those who know the real circumstances, is obviously dictated by political pressures.
His independence is not a matter of principle, but a choice that serves specific purposes. Instead of remaining faithful to the values of the party that raised him, he has chosen to align himself with those responsible for the toxic climate he denounces.
The path he chooses from now on is entirely his own. The only certainty is that his choice puts him outside the values and political principles we serve.
