The celebration of World Consumer Day is an opportunity to strengthen consumer protection, their rights, and to strengthen awareness-raising efforts and initiatives aimed at ensuring those rights are upheld.
K. Katsafados, a former minister and New Democracy member of parliament representing the 1st District of Piraeus and the Islands, was at the Piraeus market. Accompanied by Theodoros Kapralos, president of the Piraeus Merchants’ Association, he had the opportunity to speak with consumers, store owners, and employees.
On the occasion of this year’s World Consumer Day, former minister and New Democracy Member of Parliament for Piraeus A’ and the Islands, K. Katsafados, issued the following statement: “World Consumer Rights Day takes on particular significance this year in light of the changes being implemented to strengthen the consumer’s role in the fight against high prices. Fostering consumer awareness from childhood onward is crucial to shaping responsible and informed adult consumers. An informed consumer must first be well-informed and then make a choice. On the other hand, the consumption of safe food is a fundamental right for every person. The Municipal Market neighborhood in Piraeus has been and remains the liveliest part of the city. We all pass through there to shop or to enjoy authentic flavors, thereby actively supporting our community and our fellow citizens.”.
