He was rushed to the hospital Metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania, Mr. Kosmas, following a deterioration in his health.
An ambulance picked him up a few minutes after 5 p.m. Wednesday and, according to information from agrinionews.gr, transported him to Agrinio Hospital.
His Eminence tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday 21 November and while his condition was initially stable, in recent days has shown deterioration and a drop in oxygen levels.
The health authorities were informed and the Agrinio Hospital made preparations for the admission of the Metropolitan while the administration of the University Hospital of Rio was mobilized under the coordination of the YPE.
By the early hours of Tuesday morning, however, Metropolitan Kosmas was not hospitalized.
According to the same information, when the ambulance rushed to pick up His Eminence, he refused to be taken to the hospital, which caused intense consultations between health and ecclesiastical circles.
The Bishop of Aetolia and Acarnania has no vaccination coverage while his body is already quite burdened with underlying diseases.
We should note that all this time he was staying at home with the care of only his relatives and the telephone advice of a doctor from Volos and a 25-year-old nurse, his brother's granddaughter, who was taking care of him since his relatives thought he should stay at home.

A short time later the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania provided an official update on the health of His Eminence.
In detail, the announcement of the Holy Metropolis states the following:
«His Eminence, Metropolitan Kosmas of Aetolia and Acarnania, from Thursday 18 November 2021, while treating mild symptoms of coronavirus, remained at his home, under the guidance of his doctors.
This afternoon it was deemed necessary by his doctors to be transferred to Agrinio Hospital for more immediate monitoring.
His Eminence begs the Christians of the Holy Metropolis to include the name of their Bishop in their prayers to the Physician of souls and bodies, our Lord Jesus Christ».
