Trading suspended on the Istanbul Stock Exchange

The pound precipitates.

The Istanbul Stock Exchange halted trading this morning after its main index fell sharply, following the the fall of the Turkish lira, which was devalued after the dismissal of the Governor of the Central Bank.

Trading was halted for 35 minutes of the hour to resume at 09:30 (GMT) after the main index had fallen by 6.65%. The suspension of trading was done under a mechanism that provides for such suspension in cases of strong fluctuations in stock prices.
