The «»Contemporary Composers from the Ionian Islands" It is a group of 10 composers, united by their Ionian Islands heritage and shared musical roots, which were shaped by their participation in the renowned Ionian Islands philharmonic orchestras. They pursued serious studies and have been actively engaged in artistic work ever since. Their goal is to promote the work of Ionian composers from the 19th century to the present. In 2014, a CD was released titled «Contemporary Corfiot Composers».
The concert at Parnassos will honor the national rebirth, featuring works written specifically for this concert and the «150 Years Later», the founder of the Ionian Music School and the first Greek composer in Modern Greek music, Nikolaos Chalikopoulos Mantzaros (1795–1872). Works by Nikolaos Mantzaros, Spyridon Samaras, and contemporary Ionian composers who are members of the group will be performed, most of them in 1η Performed by: Konstantinos Agouridis, Pavlos Ventouras, Spyros Deligiannopoulos, Spyros Mazis, Spyros Mavropoulos, Chrysanthos Mouzakitis, Spyros Prosoparis, Nikos Roditis, Spyros Rouvas, and Spyridon Tsilibaris,
The works will be performed by harpsichordist Yuli Ventoura, pianists Pavlos Ventouras and Spyros Deligiannopoulos, and the “Pindaros” brass quintet”, the “Ambitus” mixed choir of the Leonteios School of Nea Smyrni, conducted by Katerina Vasilikou; opera soloists Efi Dimitrelou, Mina Polychronou (soprano), Yannis Kalivas (tenor), Sergios Giotis (flute), and Nikos Koulouris (trumpet). Michalis Chanos will accompany on the piano. Thomas Tambakos will provide an introduction.
