Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for a swift investigation into the murder of journalist Giorgos Karaivaz during a meeting he held earlier at the Maximos Mansion with Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis.
Upon leaving the Maximos Mansion, Mr. Chrysochoidis made the following statement to the media:
«The murder of Giorgos Karaivaz is a heinous crime. His status as a journalist carries particular weight in this case. I met with the Prime Minister a short while ago and briefed him. By his explicit order, the investigations will be expedited. According to every statistic, Greece is a country with a very low homicide rate compared to the rest of Europe; it is a peaceful, safe, and tranquil country. The Greek State, the Hellenic Republic, holds freedom of the press and the protection of rights in the highest regard. Very soon, as the Greek Police always do, they will find the perpetrators and hand them over to the Greek justice system to be dealt with. I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of Giorgos Karaivaz.».
