Images of shame are presented by the surrounding area of the dump of Skliri, at the intersection of Aloisianikon. The disheartening spectacle, which has only recently captured the local news and was highlighted by the island's media, returned to its previous state a few hours after it was cleaned by the Municipality's crews. At the site, a large volume of waste objects was again observed abandoned around the bulky waste bin and the bin itself, practically empty.
The Municipality proceeds to fines and lawsuits
In a post on Wednesday, 08/06, the mayor of Kythera announced administrative and legal measures, referring to «unconsciousness» which «will not be tolerated».
In particular, Mr:
«UNCONSCIOUSNESS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
The Hardy Bulk Bin in Aloysians was emptied this morning. A few hours later, the picture is this. Empty dumpster, chaos outside. Tomorrow, the deputy mayor in charge will file a lawsuit for environmental degradation. And of course, the complaint will name ALL the names on the discarded boxes. The same names will be fined as prescribed. Enough of this unconsciousness! Enough!»

The relevant lawsuits for environmental degradation and public health risk, filed on Thursday morning, 09/06, the Deputy Mayor, responsible for cleaning issues, George Kominos.
Mr Kominos confirmed to Kythera.News that the lawsuits are also directed against specific individuals whose names were found written on boxes and other waste materials at the site.
