The following expresses the support of the Mother Church and of himself personally for the Greek people, who are suffering from the fires: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in a message to the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

His Excellency
Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis,
Prime Minister of Greece,
In Athens.
Your Excellency,
From the Royal City, we come with all our hearts to the Greek people, who are being severely tested by fire, and through Your beloved Excellency, we extend tothe entire Greek nation the fervent, maternal blessings of the Holy Great Church of Christ in Constantinople, which we hold dear.
O Lord God, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Assumption and the Most Holy Mother of God, may You preserve the clergy, the people, and the natural environment, for whose greater protection let us all strive together as those who share responsibility for its preservation.
