The Executive Director of the Twitter, Parang Agrawal told reporters yesterday that the future of the social media platform is uncertain after its acquisition by the billionaire, Elon Musk.
He was speaking during a company staff meeting.
Musk will take questions from Twitter staff later, the company told employees.
As Agrawal listened to questions about Musk's plans for the company, the possibility of layoffs, and the board's thoughts on the same deal, he avoided several questions, arguing that they should be answered by Musk.
Musk has stated that Twitter should be a platform that promotes free speech.
Employees asked Agrawal whether former President Donald Trump, whose Twitter account was permanently suspended last year, would be able to rejoin the medium after Musk took control.
«Once the deal is done, we don't know which way the platform will go,» Agrawal said in response to a Trump-related question. «I think when we have an opportunity to talk to Ilon, it will be a question that we will have to ask him.».
Agrawal told workers that there are no plans for layoffs.
Brett Taylor, chairman of Twitter's board of directors, aimed to reassure employees that the deal with Musk prioritized “operational continuity” until the deal was closed.
«I think we feel very comfortable that (the deal) gives this team the ability to continue to make the company successful between signing and closing the transfer,» Taylor said.
