In a question to the Minister of Rural Development and Food, the Minister of Rural Development and Food, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Mr. Development St. Arachovitis, the Deputy Head of Section O. Teligioridou and 48 even SY.RIZ.A. - MA, demand an explanation for the exclusion of almost the entire fleet of coastal fishermen from financial aid due to the pandemic.
In detail what they say in a statement.
“In a question we tabled today, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Development St. Arachovitis, the Deputy Head of Section O. Teligioridou and 48 even SY.RIZ.A. MPs - MA we highlight and demand answers from the Minister of Rural Development and Food on the ongoing fiasco of the alleged aid to fishermen for the damage suffered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
They dared, they missed or didn't know and cut the 94% of the inshore fishing fleet us from financial aid? Were they not aware of the multiple blows to the economy that were dealt to our coastal areas and islands where our fishermen operate?;
«Eye-catching» their defiant exclusion from the leadership of the D.A.A.T. by introducing a criterion into the call for which there is no statutory obligation for the vast majority of our fishermen to meet.
If the Political Leadership of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food believes that fishermen are «losers», is sadly mistaken.
We ask, if they really missed it or did not know, that this gross injustice be corrected immediately. If it was their intention, the fishermen will never take the bait again.”
