Apple Inc announced yesterday that it had closed all 12 of its New York City stores for shopping as incidents of infection with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus increased nationwide.
The company's customers will be able to order products online and pick them up in stores, an Apple spokesman said.
The stores that closed include retail stores located on Fifth Avenue, in the Grand Central Terminal and in Soho in the Manhattan area.
Earlier in the month, Apple announced that it had temporarily closed three stores in the US and Canada, following an increase in COVID-19 outbreaks and exposure among store employees to possible infections
For the same reason, Apple has made it mandatory for all customers and staff to wear a mask in its stores within the US.
Globally, concerns about the spread of the Omicron variant have prompted major companies to tighten up their health protocols.
