All candidates for the 1st Piraeus and Islands District were announced as part of the New Democracy party’s internal procedures for selecting its leadership bodies, with the exception of the Aegina Municipal and Community Council, where elections will be held exclusively.

According to the party’s bylaws, pursuant to Article 6, paragraphs 4 and 5, the Election Commission for the 1st Piraeus and Islands Electoral District decided to announce the candidates for the First District of Piraeus and the Islands, including those for the Municipal Council of Kythira.

Mr. Antonis Mavrommatis is proclaimed the new president of the Kythira Municipal and Community Council. The members elected to the Board of Directors are:

President : ANTONIOS MAVROMATIS, son of Panagiotis

Members : 1) MARIA VARDA, daughter of Charalambos 2) VARDAS NIKOLAOS, son of Panagiotis, 3) GEORGILAS PARASKEVAS, son of Dimitrios, 4) KALLIGEROS GEORGIOS, son of Minas, 5) MYRTO PAPAGEORGIOU, daughter of Spyridon; 6) DIMITRIS PROTOPSALTIS, son of Georgios; 7) IOANNIS SOFIOS, son of Georgios.

As stipulated in the party’s bylaws, if only one valid candidacy is submitted, or if all but one are withdrawn by the time voting begins, the competent Election Committee shall decide whether to hold a vote, including an electronic one, or whether to declare the sole candidate elected. In any case where the competent Election Committee determines that the conditions set forth in the preceding paragraph of this article are met, it must immediately notify its superior Election Committee, the Central Election Committee, and the Organizational Secretariat.

For the Kythira Municipal Council, there were only 7 candidates for council members and one candidate for president, and since no one else declared their candidacy, it was decided not to hold elections but to proceed with a direct appointment.
